The Rouleur Live 2024 show saw the launch of a groundbreaking collaboration between British automotive and cycling brands Aston Martin and J.Laverack, the .1R bicycle.
Four year in the making, the .1R is a triumph of engineering and aesthetics to produce the world’s most bespoke, most advanced and most meticulously engineered road bike. Full of innovation and tailored to the micron, the .1R is a flawless fusion of titanium and carbon fibre, using manufacturing techniques more commonly seen in Formula One cars.
Given the significance of this machine, it was an honour for Buxumbox to be appointed as the supplier of the box that every .1R bike will be supplied in. But this isn’t just another box – it represents the most prestigious and technically challenging project we have taken on to date, leading us to explore new materials, novel manufacturing techniques and even higher levels of execution.
The brief was to provide a box in which the bike would be mounted with only the wheels removed, with a visual impact of both interior and exterior that compliments the engineering and finish of the .1R. To achieve this we made the upper panels from high gloss prepreg carbon fibre sheet – water-jet cut to within 0.1mm, decals are screen-printed by hand with fine gold ink and the mounting brackets are CNC machined from 6061 aluminium – showpieces of both form and function.
