The Rouleur Live 2024 show saw the launch of a groundbreaking collaboration between British automotive and cycling brands Aston Martin and J.Laverack, the .1R bicycle.
Four year in the making, the .1R is a triumph of engineering and aesthetics to produce the world’s most bespoke, most advanced and most meticulously engineered road bike. Full of innovation and tailored to the micron, the .1R is a flawless fusion of titanium and carbon fibre, using manufacturing techniques more commonly seen in Formula One cars.
Given the significance of this machine, it was an honour for Buxumbox to be appointed as the supplier of the box that every .1R bike will be supplied in. But this isn’t just another box – it represents the most prestigious and technically challenging project we have taken on to date, leading us to explore new materials, novel manufacturing techniques and even higher levels of execution.
The brief was to provide a box in which the bike would be mounted with only the wheels removed, with a visual impact of both interior and exterior that compliments the engineering and finish of the .1R. To achieve this we made the upper panels from high gloss prepreg carbon fibre sheet – water-jet cut to within 0.1mm, decals are screen-printed by hand with fine gold ink and the mounting brackets are CNC machined from 6061 aluminium – showpieces of both form and function.
Projects like this are our lifeblood – they drive innovation and set new standards.
In response to customer requests to be able to track and locate their Buxumboxes, we’ve developed an AirTag holder for the Tourmalet, Ventoux and Stelvio boxes.
The all aluminium construction of our boxes means that placing an AirTag inside the box obstructs the signal and, in extreme cases, can even render the AirTag undetectable. The brief therefore was to design a holder that would permit a clear signal, be tamper-proof, discreetly located and protected from accidental damage.
The solution shown is a three piece design with a base firmly riveted to the underside of the box chassis, a spacer and a cap, all made from laser-cut aluminium with a black anodised finish. The AirTag is sandwiched between these components and secured with special tamper-proof socket screws (a driver bit for these screws is also supplied). This enables the AirTag to be removed for battery changes or other uses.
Available now as an option on new boxes and shortly as a retrofit accessory (requires two rivets to be drilled out and replaced with supplied hardware).
Thanks to FP for sharing this image of his Jaegher themed Ventoux Road box – complete peace of mind for his immaculate stainless bike. This box is finished in Dead Matt Black with glossy black decals.
